PlateLASER
Laser cut plate with more power, speed and productivity than any laser cutting equipment today with the PlateLASER and PlateLASER-II Laser Cutting Systems. Each PlateLASER System laser cuts thick plate and thin material, doing the work of two machines.
Both PlateLASER Systems provide consistent laser cuts across the entire, large work envelopes, producing highly accurate parts to ± 0.001 with reliable repeatability.
The PlateLASER machines have built their reputation on 6 kW of laser cutting power, completing laser cut parts from 1-1/4" plate at incredible speeds. But, since not everyone needs the heavy-plate capability, the PlateLASER and PlateLASER-II are also available in 4 kW and 5 kW models.

High Power for Laser Cutting
- Smoothly laser cut mild steel plate from 1-1/4" plate down to 20 ga. sheet.
- Clean-cut stainless steel from 1-1/4" plate down to 20 ga. sheet.
- Laser cut aluminum plate from 1/2" down to 20 ga. sheet.
- Laser cut faster for more productivity.
- Consistently maintain a quality laser cut edge because of a superior beam and longer focal length lenses.
Laser Cutting Head
The patented laser cutting head gives you a choice of focal lengths to assure precision in any material thickness.
Chose according to material thickness:
- 12.5" EFL for accurate processing of thick material
- 10" EFL for mid-range thicknesses.
- 7.5" EFL for speed in thin material.
Laser cutting set-up time is reduced with independent programmable stand-off and focal position for increased productivity.
Whitney’s Rapid Pierce allows you to pierce the heaviest material with a small diameter to thickness ratio. The Rapid Pierce takes only 1.25 seconds in 1" thick mild steel and generates very little heat allowing for small features.
Laser Cutting Control
The Siemens controls on the PlateLASER machines give you the options and conveniences of Open Architecture CNC for a fully integrated solution for laser output, servo drive and focus control.
- The Intelligent Laser Control (ILC®) gives you real time monitoring and control of the laser cutting process.
- The Material Parameter Library makes set-up quick and easy by identifying laser cutting parameters for a wide variety of materials and cutting requirements.
Direct Drive Linear Motors
Fast acceleration and deceleration – over 4,500 ipm! – mean more laser cut parts in less time.
- High speed, accuracy and repeatability with every laser cut nest.

Automatic Pallet Shuttle/Fast Clean-up
Pallet shuttle tables on each PlateLASER System allow continuous production. A patented automatic scrap removal system eliminates scrap from laser cut parts easily and efficiently.
- Common feed height eases loading and unloading of the PlateLASER machines.
- Loading/unloading one pallet while the other supports the plate being laser cut keeps production flowing.
- Integrated scrap removal system saves machine clean-up time with a fast, efficient process.
